Administrative history
The Alaska Music Trails series of concerts began in Juneau Alaska when Maxim Schapiro, a Russian pianist, and Luigi Siva a cellist performed a first concert of the series in 1950 at the 20th Century Theatre. Over the next twenty years concerts were given in eighteen Alaskan communities and in seven Canadian ones, including Grande Prairie. In their 21st anniversary series in 1970-71, they presented four concerts in Grande Prairie in the Montrose Elementary School Auditorium.
Custodial history
The records of the Alaska Music Trail Concerts were donated to the South Peace Regional Archives by Patricia Larter in 2010
Scope and content
The fonds consists of four Alaska Music Trail Concert programs (1970-1971), a letter to the Daily Herald Tribune editor (1970), and a newclipping covering a 1969 performance by Carl Dolmetsch and Joseph Saxby.
