Mandate is to acquire, make accessible for research and preserve archival material documenting Canadian creativity in the personal papers and business records of Canadian writers, publishers, composers, musicians, and artists. Holdings also contain collections relating to political movements originating in Alberta and other Prairie provinces. The records of the Anglican Church of Canada - Calgary Diocese are on permanent loan. The various fonds include personal and business correspondence, research materials, manuscripts, scrapbooks, photographs, cartographic materials, audio-visual materials and artifacts. The holdings also include international materials such as a manuscript from 1400.
Special Collections has a distinct web presence and provides fonds and collection descriptions and links to finding aids for the areas Canadian Historical Archives, Canadian Literary and Art Archives, International Archival Holdings, Recreational Mathematics Archives, Political Papers, and The Richard Johnston Canadian Music Archives Collection.
Monday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Closed statutory holidays and between Christmas and the New Year. Please contact the archives at least 1 business day prior to visiting. Many of our collections are offsite and we require time to retrieve them from our vaults prior to clients accessing them.
