Levi Soper, a United Empire Loyalist, established an iron ore foundry for the manufacture of farm implements. He later sold it to Philo Hicock. Levi's great-granddaughter, Addie, 1863-1963, was born in Leeds, Ontario, and married Joseph Hamilton Barlow. In 1895 she and Joseph came west and settled first in Neepawa, Manitoba and subsequently in Alberta.
