History

The idea of creating a repository for the historical records of the village of Milo and the surrounding area began to take shape in 2007, when suitable space for an archives was factored into the design of the new Milo Library building; the Friends of the Milo Library Archive Room. For the first several years of its existence the function of the archives was somewhat informal, but in 2011, Milo Library Archives began the process of becoming an accredited archives. That same year the Milo Lions Club created the Milo Lions Archivist Fellowship, and has contributed funding to hire a student to assist in the Archives each subsequent summer. In March 2013, Milo Library Archives became a full institutional member of the Archives Society of Alberta.

As a branch of the overall services provided by Milo Library, these community archives provide a centrally located record of material deemed significant to Milo history and worthy of preserving for future generations.
