History

A. Jennie McLean, [ca. 1880-after 1960], was born in Ontario. Her brother, Colin, 1883-1949, came to Alberta in 1906. In 1908 Jennie and her father, James C. McLean, joined Colin and they homesteaded near Irma. During the summer Jennie cooked and kept house on the homestead, one month of which was spent in a tent. During the winter she worked in the Edmonton office of the Alberta Lumber Company. She subsequently married T. Edward Higginbotham, a druggist, and moved to Calgary. The Higginbothams retired to Nelson, and later Vancouver, British Columbia.
