Biographical history

William James Kent was an Anglican lay reader and teacher and was principal of St. Peter's Mission Indian Residential School at Grouard, Alberta from about 1924 possibly until the school closed in 1932. Prior to this he taught at a mission in Saskatchewan, and after, in Athabasca. He died in Alix, Alberta about 1951 or 1952 and was buried in Edmonton.

  • General note: Consists of an album compiled by William Kent, the principal of an Anglican mission school in Grouard, Alberta, which was attended by Cree children from the Sucker Reserve. The album documents the children and activities at the school, including the fall harvest, sports days, and Christmas.
