Biographical history
Harvey F. Cull, 1882-1936, was one of six children born in Guelph, Ontario. His father, F.A. Cull, moved the family to Lacombe, where he taught school. Harvey moved to Athabasca in 1910 and opened Athabasca Pharmacy on Litchfield Avenue, later moving to the former Methodist Hall on Strathcona Street. When this building burned in 1913, Harvey put up a new building on Strathcona Street that fall. This building is now a giftware store. His brother, Joseph, farmed in the Sawdy District from 1912-1914. Their sister, Edna, married Charles Nancekivell of Athabasca. Harvey and his wife, Ida Agnes Paisley, had two children: Fred in 1912 and Evelyn in 1929. Harvey was an optician and also ran a circulating library from his pharmacy. On the death of his brother-in-law, Charles Nancekivell, in 1918, Harvey took over his business, Athabasca Funeral Supply Company. He was a member of the original school board, Board of Trade, Junior Farm Club and Old Timers Association. In January, 1936, he sold his house and business to Fred Mills of Morinville. Harvey died one month later.

Immediate source of acquisition
The source is unknown. 02.13 was donated by Eleanor Osment. The prescriptions were found in the pharmacy by her husband, Glen. The medicine bottles were donated by Kathy Husel in 2012. They were in the house previously owned by Eleanor Osment.

Other materials include 53 photographs, 11 negatives, and 37 artifacts. The artifacts are 32 (emptied) glass medicine bottles, 1 large tin container, 3 cardboard containers, and a 24x16x6 inch wooden box containing stencils and paints to use in window displays from the Cull, and later the Fred Mills, pharmacies.
