History
Edwin Prothroe Gower, 1863-1958, was born and educated in Bayfield, Ontario. He worked for the Canadian Bank of Commerce, and while with the London branch joined the Seventh Fusiliers and fought in the 1885 Riel Rebellion (North West Rebellion). His brother, Charles Douglas Gower, also served with the Fusiliers. On his return Edwin continued to work for the bank at several locations in Ontario. From 1911 until his retirement in 1925 he was assistant manager of the Toronto branch. Edwin married Susan Bayley, ?-1929, and they had four children, Kathleen D., Mrs. Eric Farncomb, John Leveson, and Edwin Gordon.
