Biographical history
Francois Xavier Gosselin was born in 1861 in Quebec. He was a notary in Quebec for 14 years before arriving in Dawson City, Yukon in October 1898. On January 14, 1899 he was appointed as the Crown Timber and Land Agent for the Yukon and went on to become the Assistant Gold Commissioner in 1909. He was a member of the Yukon Order of Pioneers (YOOP), and sat on the St. Mary's Hospital board. F. X. Gosselin died May 28, 1916 from heart failure at the Yukonia Hotel in Dawson City.

This fonds contains one folder of correspondence to F. X. Gosselin, the Gold Commissioner regarding mining claims on Dominion Creek, Yukon, near Dawson City. The letters are written on Caribou Hotel letterhead as the proprietors wrote letters to the Gold Commissioner on behalf of miners as part of their business.
